We’re not exactly sporty ourselves at Hog Roast Hurley, although we do love to watch, our exercise tends to come more from running around the kitchen than a field or pitch. However this past weekend we were delighted to join our local junior rugby team for their match day event. It was a last-minute call out but luckily we had a spot and we were of course more than happy to come on out on a delightful sunny afternoon (perhaps one of the last, by the looks of things!). The club were running a tournament and wanted a fine feast to round out the day and competition to allow all the players to blow off a little steam, relax, and just enjoy talking about the day together after battling it out hard on the field. We’ll leave the tackling and the running part to them, our Catering Manager instead just got to work readying the perfect roast meal to welcome them back in!
It was a wonderful day for all, and quite fortunately the local club ended up winning the entire tournament themselves, making our feast even more of a delight as we toasted to the champions of the day who welcomed us in in the first place. After all their hard work there was a lot of quiet eating as the kids gratefully chomped down on a feast of roast pork, greens, potatoes, salad, bread rolls and so much more. A gorging Hog Roast Hurley spread fit for the champions – and they certainly ate it all up with ease!
We were informed too that this tournament had meant to take place last year, but of course had to be cancelled under the circumstances, so this was a rousing way to get the tournament back on track again and give the kids something to look forward to. The Hog Roast Hurley team certainly enjoyed the day and from the feedback we heard later on in the week it sounds as though the club and kids were well chuffed with the day too! We’d be happy to come back anytime – and Our Catering Manager may even take up that extra point kick challenge too this time!
