Hog Roast Watlington’s Medieval Jousting Experience

Hear ye, Hear ye…Hog Roast Watlington recently travelled back in time for a Medieval jousting tournament! Okay, maybe not literally. But nevertheless, our team had a fabulous time and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the busy weekend-long festival, which began early on Saturday morning and finished up on Sunday afternoon.

Stonor Enterprises had been the ones in charge of hosting this grand event, and, as the elected representative for the company, Jenny had called us well in advance to arrange a fitting feast for the historic-themed celebration. With so much to do and so many people to please (250 people each day), two of our finest catering managers, Matthew and Reece, doubled up to handle the get-together, for which Jenny had chosen our Classic Hog Roast Menu.

Using the iconic Stonor Park as the venue for the event, which has been in the Stonor family for over 850 years, not only provided a stunning backdrop for the occasion, but it really did the trick of settingHog Roast Watlington the scene for the Medieval events that had been arranged. With no room for error, our team of caterers arrived at this site in the small hours of the morning on each of the two days, and making every minute count, they set to work on preparing a fruitful bounty of authentically flavoured slow-roasted pulled pork with sage and onion stuffing, crackling, gluten-free rolls and applesauce. Unlike the real Medieval times, Hog Roast Watlington also took care of the non-meat-eaters by serving our super tasty BBQ pulled jackfruit buns with toppings of coleslaw and hickory sauce.

Hog Roast Watlington began serving to the hungry guests at 11 am, and after making sure everyone was happy and well-fed, the team quickly cleared away the remnants of the leftover food and disposable crockery before making the journey back to HQ. Whilst this meant we weren’t able to stick around for the entirety of the day’s event, we did, however, manage to get a good glimpse at the goings-on of the celebration, which included breathtaking falconry displays, impressive archery contests and adventures through the mysterious Tumblestone hollow, making this day just as memorable for us as it was for the guests!
