The perfect wedding reception meal from Hog Roast Watchfield

Belmond Le Manior aux Quat’Saison’s is the most quaint, picturesque and fairy-tale venue Hog Roast Watchfield as ever had the honour of catering at. Owned by famous Raymond Blanc, it is a gorgeous 15th century manor with a 2-Michelin-star restaurant and luxurious hotel. Whilst there, Hog Roast Watchfield’s catering manager bumped into the one and only David Jason, better known as ‘Del Boy’ from the British sitcom ‘Only fools and horses’ – starstruck!

Hog Roast WatchfieldHog Roast Watchfield had the pleasure of catering at this magical place for a wedding reception – big congratulations to Steve and Jennifer, the new Mr and Mrs! The newlyweds enjoyed a tailored menu of spit-roasted pig, sage and onion stuffing, selection of bread rolls and sauces as well as a vegetarian option of halloumi kebabs which the bride requested, she could taste-test for her guests! As there were 50 guests, a 45-kilogram pig was required which would take 4 hours to roast and therefore meant that the catering manager would have to get there five and a half hours before the half 9pm serve time to give plenty of time to set up, get electricity access for the spit machine and pop the spit machine on at the required time.

As the pig cooks, the catering manager carefully slices the selection of bread rolls including, soft white, wholemeal, cheesy, tiger, seeded and folding the wraps into a bread basket. Hog Roast Watchfield provided a selection of sauces as well including, apple, sweet chilli (this goes equally well with the halloumi kebabs), ketchup, mustard and as requested by the groom, mayonnaise. The halloumi kebabs are hand crafted to be an abundance of colour, creating a pattern of halloumi between a mixture of Mediterranean vegetables. The bride fell in love with the halloumi kebabs requesting the recipe so that she could make them at home.

All the guests were served by half 10, many came back up for seconds and even thirds! The bride and groom were amazed at how good the crackling was and were thrilled with the pork and stuffing rolls with the groom being one of the guests managing thirds! Hog Roast Watchfield are looking forward to catering at their first wedding anniversary next year!
